thank you for getting back to me,

basiclly, the story is i just bought a new laptop with windows 10 so i had downloaded a few things ie spoify facebook ect.,

i then went about connecting my iphone 4s via usb cable to the laptop but nothing happened except the phone did start to charge,

there was no sounds or messages the came up so i disconnected it after i waited for bout 10mins, thinkin it could jst be a bit slow cuz of the stuff i was down loading but even after everything had downloaded still nothing so i downloaded iTunes from apple thinking that might help but nothing then i uninstalled it and tried again to connect the phone to no avail.

after that i tried to connect my acer tablet but same issue, the computer will charge it but the devices dont seem to be recognised by the laptop.

Method 1

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to check for the latest updates in Windows 10 which helps the PC to make optimal use of Windows 10 capabilities as well as fixing any missing links in performance of the operating system.

Windows 10 periodically checks for updates so you don't have to. When an update is available, it's automatically downloaded and installed – keeping your PC up to date with the latest features.

To check for updates now, go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says that your PC is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.

Also, check for Windows update to look for latest drivers for USB devices installed in your computer.

Additionally, I would also suggest you to refer to the manufacturer/computer assembler's website to look for updated drivers for the USB device.
